At Parkland Prep we believe that success in school leads to success in life.

Kids with learning disabilities (LD) and/or Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD) have an added risk of failure because of behavioral problems that have developed of no fault of their own. Or it could be that the child just hasn’t learned age-appropriate social skills.

Before we can understand children’s behavior, we must understand their needs. PPA’s Psychological Services include:
– Emergency Placement Evaluations
– Interim Placement Evaluations
– Cognitive Testing
– Academic Testing
– Behavioral Observations, rating scales and data collection

Success in school involves being able to complete work, stay organized, get along with kids and adults, be positive about your own abilities, follow rules, and do your best work. Parkland works with each individual student to ensure success in school and consequently, success in life!

Children diagnosed with cognitive, emotional and/or health problems often require a special education program to meet their needs.

In these cases, it is important to get referred to the right school that can integrate the child quickly into its program regardless of the time of year and provide appropriate care, instruction and attention.

Parkland Preparatory Academy is a therapeutic day school that is licensed and regulated by the Illinois State Board of Education and serves special education students from 12 to 21 years old who are referred.

We are all teachers and learners.

The more people involved in the education process, the more we optimize useful strategies and materials for teaching. A mix of education professionals with masters of various skills and insights makes education, as it should be, a lifelong endeavor for each individual student. At Parkland Prep we have a faculty dedicated to developing each student’s unique skills and talents in a safe and nurturing environment.
