Transition Assistance

Parkland Preparatory Academy's transition assistance helps students with building the skills and confidence necessary to transition successfully to adult life. By helping students develop career goals and define short-term objectives, we prepare them for entry into the labor market, technical training, or a post-secondary educational institution. This program focuses on 18-21 year old students and provides:

  • Resume and cover letter writing
  • Completing on-line employment applications
  • Job search techniques
  • Interview preparation
  • Assistance identifying post-secondary education institutions or specialized job training centers to help students reach their transition goals.
  • Post-secondary admissions assistance
  • Identifying community resources for leisure and recreation as an adult
School Transition activities allow Parkland students to:
  • Increase social networks within the community
  • Build a professional portfolio
  • To get to know their strengths and how to advocate for themselves at work and in the community
  • Determine appropriate job accommodations through participating in individualized transition assessments
Parkland also provides post graduation support to all of our graduated students through:
  • Family counseling
  • Providing links to community agencies for post-secondary supports
  • Links to local community colleges and post-secondary training programs
